EDMONTON – The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees encourages members to participate in the Join Together Alberta rally against cuts to education funding scheduled for Saturday, March 20.
Hillcrest Information Picket
Local 048 members gathered at the Extendicare Hillcrest location in Calgary to protest stalled negotiations with their employer. Members at six Extendicare location across Alberta are affected by drawn-out negotiations with their employer. They have not received an increase in pay or benefits since January 2008. AUPE President Guy Smith attended the picket, and addressed the crowd.
AUPE Headquarters reopens after water main break
AUPE’s Edmonton Headquarters building has reopened after a water main break that closed the facility for the morning. AUPE has now resumed normal operations at Headquarters and the telephone switchboard has reopened.
